Bunkers are located in front of the left and right sides of the green, but are 10 or 15 yards in front of it, so they don't really come into play, but are visually intimidating. The green is narrow in front and widens in the back, and is very steeply sloped (rivaling numbers 2, 12, and 16) from back-to-front. It is not wise to leave oneself with a downhill putt on the home hole at Tam O'Shanter.
