The first hole at Tam O' Shanter has trees lining both sides
of the straight-away fairway. The green is guarded on both the
left and the right by large trees, and there is a yawning
bunker just in front of the right-hand side of the green that
comes into play from the right side of the fairway. The green
is narrow and very deep (45 paces deep), and slopes from
left-to-right, as viewed from the fairway. This sloping is
more pronounced in the front half of the green. The ideal tee
shot will finish in the left-center of the fairway, providing
the optimal approach angle to the pin. |
